well i have a prob :P..

hen ever i try to install any driver waht so ever i get the so called blue scree of death :) ie the pc stops and is ment to restart but i turned that featur off...

this happends when ever i install a driver or try to update a driver....the driver is correct i am sure of it because sometimes i got to the windows update site and select the driver there and it tries to automatically install it but the pc crashes with the stop error...

anyone know why?

some of the drivers i had to install i installed through safe mode....which allows me to install drivers...

unless i log in as admin with network access then the pc hangs like freezez while showing the connect screen...but logging in as the user with admin access and network access works fine...

without network access both work the admin account and the other account with admin priveledges....

also i was trying to install my 56k modem drivers...i cant install it through safe mode because the pc cant see it doesnt recognise its there..if i manually try to add it then it asks me for a port put i cant type it i have to select it...but since it cant see the modem it doesnt give me any options...

the modem is recognised through noraml windows but not through safe mode...

so this is one driver probi cant work around by just going into safe mode ad installing the driver :(

any please help

Did you do an upgrade from a prior OS to Windows XP, which often leads to problems?

Or a clean install of XP on a formatted hard drive, which is usually rock solid?

upgrade

Well it sounds to me your upgrade to XP is fubar'd .... When going from OS to OS clean install's are the way to go.

Try booting off your XP CD abnd go through the motions but when it get's to the point were it asks do you wanna install or repair, choose repair. See if that helps.

Also was this happening right from the start of the upgrade?
