all the trouble started yesterday around 3:00. my cable modem status light just started blinking (meaning it lost sync). it did it about 5 times about 10 minutes appart then didnt do it for the rest of the night. now it just started doing it again. it did it around 2:00, didnt do it for a little while then did it again about an hour later. then it just did it 3 times in the last 20 minutes. anybody know why it does this? thanks

Ok.

Hows the signal coming in? How many splits are behind the modem?

Contact your provider. It shouldn't be doing this.

Not necessarily. I had many splitters in front of mine and never had a sync loss problem. As long as it's within the operating db, all is swell.

My guess is something outside (lose connection maybe, maybe at the pole) or at your provider's end.

My modem is on the 3rd split in my house... no problems yet. Sometimes my modem will lose sync on and off all night (twice i think.) I think that it's due to equiptment problems at the cable company... I called tech one time and they said "oh yeah, scheduled maintenance", so maybe it'lll stop ina few days.

who is your provider???

you need to call them and have them restage a fresh config file for your modem and see if that does not get it to sync up

do you have cable tv as well???

if so then is there any fuzziness on the low chanels 2-13 especially??

if so then you night have RF or line noise issues

get the repush of the config file and go from there

:p   :rotfl:  :p  :2cool:

road runner

yes i do have cable tv

now that your brought it to my attention.. there is a slight fuzzyness to my pictures... i dont know if it has always been there before though... i know that the cable modem signal is a LOT more sensative than the cable tv signal... so that could be it. i havent had any more problems with my modem since like an hour after i started this thread... we'll see how it is tomorrow

Repushing the modem is pointless in a low signal situation...

there is no proof yet that their is a low signal situation yet

he could have that checked by calling RR as well

They're updating IP's, removing old accounts and geraneral maintance. I lost Block sync lastnight and couldn't get it back, I called them and they said not to worry that it will be happening untill sometime today or tomorrow
