You have my families condolences. For some reason, this is a bad month. While I haven't lost family, I've lost two long time friends in less than a week.

That's about it, this is really rough.
Every single time the phone's rung for the past year I've been expecting it to be this.
When it rang at 4:30 this morning I knew before I even answered.
I'm very glad she's at peace, I wouldn't wish the past few years she had on anyone.
thanks guys

Humby, I am so sorry to hear of this.

I know that you were there visiting not long ago and I do hope that you and she shared peace together in your hearts...
As a 16 y.o. boy, I watched my mother sucumb to cancer 34 years ago and even though you know it's coming, you are never prepared...
Be strong for your family and remember that she will always be with you in your heart...

Thanks everyone, appreciate the posts.
And yes, she died in her sleep and drugged to the gills, as far as we'll ever know it was quiet and peaceful. I have no doubt she's in a much better place now, given how harsh things were.
Thank you Ken. There was no bad blood at all, just guilt on my part for not being there more the past many years (hard to visit NC from CA).
And you're right, I knew it was coming and it was still one earth-shaking hell of a shock. Still sobbing.

Humby, PM me for my number, or PM me your number if you want to talk. (You may be able to get my number from your local restroom wall...
