I recently got a regular Linksys switch , and I wanted to connect it to my existing setup, but I'm having some problems.

My current network is setup like this.

Cable modem - Wireless router(must stay in this area) - Ethernet cable running from the router to my room.

What I want is.

Cable modem - Wireless router(must stay in this area) - Ethernet cable running from the router to my room - Switch - connection to two computers.

The problem is that I'm getting little no basically no connectivity at all when I connect the ethernet cable to my switch, and try to spread it out over the two PCs in my room.

Anyone have a solution for this problem?

Are your PCs able to get a legit IP address (If a Linksys router, by default your PCs should pickup a 192.168.1.1xx address)

Which model switch did you get? Most are auto-direction now..so you have no worry about crossover cable or which port, is it uplink, etc to worry about.

The cable running from the router to your room....is it factory made/terminated? How long? Passing around anything electrical?
