Any idea how to fix a sticking key on a notebook? My roomate's left arrow key on his HP laptop is sticking every 2 or 3 taps.

Thanks in advance.

In my experience carefully removing the key and cleaning the sensor with alcohol, as well as the spring and metal/plastic associated with where it inserts fixes it. Just be careful and use a qtip and some rubbing alcohol. If it's a mechanical problem, you may be able to twist the retention clip (don't know if that's what it actually is) back to its normal shape.

Quick attempt...Can of compressed air...get the straw in there and blow the heck out of all the keys. Often lint, hairs, junk under them.

A bigger fix required attempt...As mentioned above, pull the key itself. They commonly have a plastic scissor-jack mechanism under there...pay attention to how it's setup, so you can snap it back together.

Kyle, if you need some financial help affording this repair, I have a friend in Nigeria who lost his brother, he is set to receive a large inheritance, but he cannot cash it there.

If you take the check and cash it, you could keep enough to buy a few new keys and a bit extra, then return the rest to my friend.

We would only need a small down payment as collateral.

This should be no trouble to fix a 4 year problem!
