My thread about this only lasted 22 seconds in the main forum before it was moved last night. Hopefully yours will have better luck!

The first generation of this holographic media will come in only 300-gigabytes of storage capacity, and with a 20 MBPS transfer rate. Scheduled for release in late 2006
Up to 1.6-terabytes (or 1,600-gigabytes for those who can’t count) and transfer rates reaching 120 MBPS (megabytes, not bits!), Maxell’s latest holographic technology is a real breakthrough in optical media.
Thank God for a non-DRM laden alternative.

It all comes down to price, reliability, and style. If it's got those, it could be a huge success.

Wow, what a bargain! My first CDROM Drive/Soundcard combo was $600! That sucker was a 2 speed though

I paid $600 for the drive/sound combo, $345 for a 486DX2-66 CPU and $579 for 8MB of ram. That was after the $1800 for the PC! $3300+ for a state of the art 486DX2-66 with 8MB ram, 170 MB HD and a x2 CDROM. I actually sold it for $2,000 and the fellow was tickled at the time.
