need to fix windows xp Prof. need help with key.

Ok, so i am having issues with windows and/or components. i want to reinstall windows to see if it fixes bugs.
only problem is that this laptop was given to me by a co-worker and the windows cd is on a cdr. i have no key info!. i can get as far as when it asks for the key... 25 character key.
anyway around it?

Can try those install key finders, like Magic Jelly Bean
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml
It will look at your current install of Windows, and digup the install key used. If you're reinstalling, you can use this. If you've formatted the drive already, you're out of luck, need to go purchase a legitimate key.

man, you are on top of things...I love this site!
i did work out for me, now wish me luck on the problem i had yesterday.
hopefully this fixes something *crosses fingers*
