Ok this is weird, running XP Home edition all altest patches. Any time I try to go to eitehr RegEdit or TaskMan I am told they are locked by the administrator. Well I am the administrator. So I use an external registry editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System and reset both keys to 0. Onlt problem is they auto reset back to 1 a minute latter. I tried to remove the keys and rename the keys but they are recreated. What is causing the registry change or how do I make the chnage permanent??? Also have run Adaware & SpyBot Search & Destroy so system is clean.
Thanx

I think you've got a virus.
This may help
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_emerutils.htm
btw - Doug Knox is an MS MVP, so no worries about his exe file.
I would also scan with an updated antivirus program.

Hello fellow "Nutmegger".
I agree, I'd also look at a virus infection. And get a second and even third opinion from some other antivirus scanners, as I'm not fond of McAfee for both its system performance hit, as well as letting a lot of viruses slip through compared to other programs.
Free online scan at
http://www.antivirus.com which redirects you to Trend Micros site, click on the free online scan, "Housecall"
Also get yet another opinion, download some free antivirus software such as AVG or Avast.
