Server Ports

Heya,

Im at college and they have dual ds3 lines. Is there a way to program an FTP to use the same port as kazaa lite?

(I really hope I know what the hell im talking about)

ya just setup the ftp server to use what ever port you want. You can do this with any ftp server software.. donno about IIS though. I use serv-u on port 25412.

I just wanna setup a small ftp. Yet i dont know what our college monitors so i would like to keep it as hidden as possible.

I would check their policy. May not be worth a semester on dial up.

There is no good way to hide ftp or any other server - the point of a server is to accessible.

Most colleges are concerned about potential liability in p2p suits - they shoudl be. I bet they are scanning the hell out of their network.

If they use proxies or NAT, it won't be available to the outside world anyway, just fellow students. FTP is SO insecure, I would scan for ftp servers on every host of my network.

They scan the bitch out of P2P but we all do it. I could just tell them a friend did it to my computer :rolleyes:

I'm not in College ;) just run a FTP server at my house.
