Heres my view on it:

They may stop napster, but they will never stop music piracy. Napster is only a bunch of servers that users connect to, if you go to http://www.napigator.com you will see many music servers, including music servers.
One of the best of them is: opennap#.musiccity.com ,
there are hundreds of these type of servers out there.. not only with mp3 but with movies software and everything u need.
Using the napigator prog u can download your mp3s using your napster prog( after the napster servers go down, u can use this prog to connect to any server)
There are also other progs outhere such as :
WinMx , File navigator .. that do basically the same thing.. they have these servers listed , and u may connect to any of them.. Or even add your own server.

This is my opnion on mp3, warez, movies and on:
They will never stop the piracy, theres absolutely nothing they can do .. they cant prosecute every single user that gets their stuff, and they also cant do anything to these server.
So the music industry is just wasting their time trying to shut down Napster. The only thing that they may accomplish is to take out some of the people who are not smart enough to know progs such as napigator, winmx, filenavigator.
Also by doing this to napster, they may be puting their self into a situation, that old napster users may boycott the music industry.

Thats my opinion on all of this.. What do u thinkkk??

p.s. sorry if i was kinda of long.

i think most of us dont care. why? because we all have great back-ups :D

also, the back-ups will not require us to sign up for a membership or whatever :D

totally agree there, so many ways to share files now, and it will just evolve and get easier. Oh well, at least napster made their 15+million$.....
but napster really did start it all (kind of), so they do deserve some credit http://news.excite.com/news/ap/010213/18/biz-peer-promise

what napster started will NEVER be stopped, it can't be stopped. thats a good thing for the comsumer. but I just can't wait till a napster-like program for warez comes out, because when warez goes mainstream, it will be so much better.

Napster was just the most popular, that's why they could target it...

Of course there are other methods, there always has been, what do you think people did before napster, heh

It's just that Napster has been the EASIEST one yet, and it became very popular and everyone and their grandma could use it to grab some music.

There have always been other ways and there will always be other ways.

The neat thing about napster was direct file downloading, which is becoming a big thing right now.

The thing about napster though is even idiots can use it, which means LOTS of people are using it. But if it dies those idiots won't know about or how to use FTP's and IRC and the NG's etc.. so that will mean faster internet over all :)

Anyways, it don't really matter if napster lives or dies

I hope it lives in the sence it will piss off the RIAA :D

but i also hope it dies so the net will be faster and the idiots won't be able to download mp3's and once again it will be considered l33t to have mp3's :D

oh one other thing, MP3's will never die becuase it is JUST a file compression method, like Winzip or PKZip, it was just found that the MP3 compression scheme works REALLY well on .wav files, it compresses them down 10:1 with the same cd quality as the .wav file

if mp3 didn't excist we would all be trading large .wav files and the RIAA would still be mad, hehe, see my point

I could really care less,if I want some music,I will go and buy a CD,and I have better things to do with my hard drive than store and play music.I don't know what the big damn deal is about everybody getting something for nothing,I know this might sound old fashioned, but I don't mind working and paying for things that I want.If I was an artist or record company ,I would be fighting napster too.

I think the recording Industry has been ripping off consumers long enough! There getting a taste of their own, thats all. They put 2 good songs from an artist on the album, the rest were from the trash bin. So you spend what 15 20 dollars for 2 good songs, then they put out another album 6 months ltr with 2 more songs and so on.....

I think this is good beacuse all the "newbies" who think they are something beacuse they can DL music from thier computer, will have no source anymore. They think Napster is the only place you can get mp3's which is totally untrue. Also, it will help out my cd burning buisiness at school (haha). Ever since napster came out, everyone was able to find mp3's so easy. Now they wont be able to find thier mp3s..

Never underestimate the power of technology!

We all know something was going to happen... I mean.. everything free? ppffftt! WHen corporate america can capitolize/rape you on your money.. they will, It's a given.

If I watched TV and was into Movies and such... I would be able to record it on my VCR. If I want music and record it I can listen to the radio.. For Free! Why not on the internet??

In 5 years we'll probably be forced to use code + CD key# + Authorized over phone + Email responce to just get any software..

Who knows...
