help with directx 9

for some odd reason i cant download directx 9. ever time i go to microsoft site and download dx9 i run then i get this weird message it say Directx did not copy a required file then installation stops. im running windows me

this is a stab ion the dark but try removing the old directx and vid drivers then reinstall vid drivers and new directx....
i know its not a lot of help but its the only thing i can think of

other people are having this problem too
I'm still having trouble installing the damn thing!
After setup extract files, just before it begins to copy it says "DirectX did not copy a required file" in a messagebox and then when you click OK to that it says "Installation Failed"... does this everytime - on both websetup and the full 30mb pack..... and whats worse... i try to reintall DX 8.1 and now i get the same error doing that! taken from

What OS are other people having this prob using?
Do you have system restore on?
