SG Broadband Community

As of right now i have two comps that I want to network to the internet but at times i have up to 4, so how would i get them all connected to the internet at once?

Heres what i've got for networking a the moment:
one 5 port switch
one comp with 2 NIC's in it (WinXP Pro)
one comp with 1 NIC in it (WinXP Pro)
two 14ft pieces of CAT5 cable
one 3ft piece of CAT5 cable
ATTBI cable internet (cable modem)

Whenever my cousin comes up he always networked the comps together by running the cable modem into the comp with two NIC's, then running cat5 from the other NIC to the switch, and then ran CAT5 cable from the other computer into the switch and all worked well, but i seem to be having trouble getting it to work

If you need any more info or anything just reply telling me what you need, i will really appreciate any help at all!

Right now i've got a few more ideas to try, but can't do it untill i get home later today, so just post all your ideas so i've got even more to try when i do get home.

I prefer hardware connection sharing.....routers. Simple to setup and maintain, you don't need a "server" running 24/7 for the others to be able to access, it provides you with basic network security via NAT, and doesn't bog down the "server", or visa versa.

yeah i would prefer that also, but a switch is what i've got, and i want to use it. We won't be using the server computer all that much anyone, its not tooo fast

Any help for ya here? Figured you just want some "step by step" to go through.

When i run the network setup wizrd on my host computer it just gives me an error when i get to the end, heres the exact message: An error occured during configuration of the network on this computer. You can configure your network manually, or yoou can just run the wizard again with different settings.

At the moment i am going to try and switch my LAN/Internet cables (lan into internet, internet into lan) and run the wizard again and see if that works! i'll post my results in maybe 10-15mins

Now that error didn't pop up, and i ran the wizard on the client computer, with the setting to connect through a hub, and still no internet connection! /me needs lots of help

Does anyone know of a simple program that can configure all of this junk and get my network working for me? I don't want proxy software, tried that last night and hated it.

*bump* still need help with this, my cousin will be coming over this unday and i know he can get it working, but i would like to get it working before he came over so i can enjoy two computers on the internet at once without him here
