Dunno...I haven't seen it...and neither are the articles of most tech resources...like various forums and PC magazines. Most say barely 5-10% at the most...others..depending on what apps, if any changes (mostly just office).
You can't measure a performance change properly when having a PC that you upgrade the SP on..measuring bootup time before the install...and post install. Because installing any service pack will often heal/change/optimize some files that were out of whack.

“Today we are happy to announce that Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) has released to manufacturing (RTM). Windows XP SP3 bits are now working their way through our manufacturing channels to be available to OEM and Enterprise customers.
We are also in the final stages of preparing for release to the web (i.e. you!) on April 29th, via Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center. Online documentation for Windows XP SP3, such as Microsoft Knowledge Base articles and the Microsoft TechNet Windows XP TechCenter, will be updated then. For customers who use Windows XP at home, Windows XP SP3 Automatic Update distribution for users at home will begin in early summer.
Thanks to everyone here who installed the public betas – you not only gave us detailed feedback but also helped each other out with timely troubleshooting. Through the beta program we found several important issues and were able to confirm some essential fixes. We couldn’t have done this without you.
We will still be monitoring this forum during the next few weeks in case you have more feedback about the release of Windows XP SP3.”
well..looks like another week... unless i can get it some time this week over MSDN.

Hell no it don't.. they are screwing people worse than they did with Vista SP1... I'd be willing to bet they release it to MSDN and Technet by the end of the day or tomorrow after seeing all this fire.

I had to reload 4 computers yesterday and would have loved to have been able to use it..but oh well, each one got a slip streamed disk instead which I'd rather use the SP we have been waiting on for the last few years.

I always wait....seen too many burns in the past for me to rush out and install a SP the second it is released.
Probably just the "young-uns" posting on that TechNet forum too...the seasons vets will sit and patiently wait to test for done-ness.

June at the earliest for Home XP? Great!
It may even slide to August and have a couple of tweaks added.

??? No you can download it as soon as it hits Windowsupdates and the download center by doing a manual search for updates for example... June is just for auto updates.

Sava have you got any detailed info on whats in SP3? Not so much what patches are included but what other updates. Stuff like what version of Directx is included or if it is included at all, any dot net framework, stuff like that. I know installer version 3.1 V2 is included but MP 11 and IE7 are not correct? I have a bunch of stuff saved to CD like IE7, MP11, Directx etc, so I can install it without going to windows update. I'd like to weed out what is included in SP3 to save time on a clean install. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.

yeah I figured they were slammed as it was the first real legit site to host it...
Be advised though that although I've not had any issues installing it on 4 different comps today, UOD had a issue last night, which I think he got fixed but when I PMed him to find out if he got his stuff fixed all I got was a "F U"
So I'm assuming he's going to curse at me later tonight for something screwing it up lol

no idea.. other than it gave him some error half way through it and stopped...not sure what he did to recover cause I know he doesn't use system restore. Prob something he had loaded caused a issue with it...hard to say.

My custom theme probably skewed the color but it isn't red. Try a red theme.

Ah poops, I figured they would have changed the color like Green in SP-1 and Blue in SP-2 but they left it blue. Is there a way to make it red or is that against the rules and get me into trouble?

Google XP custom boot screens, its not against the rules to talk about.
Though you talk about it enough I think you need therapy. It was always blue, maybe XP home was green, but pro was always blue.

Sorry Sava700... I wasn't that clear.
I was relieved to hear that auto-update was going to be a couple of months down the road.
This way, a lot of the bugs that pop up on early installs have a chance to get worked out.
