SG should Sell Webspace
SG should Sell Webspace
Looking at Brent webpage, why doesn't SG sell webspace to SG members. I know SG isn't Financially sound so heres an idea, along with some googlegear banners
i would click this a lot
.....
I don't speak for everyone, but my thoughts are this
Bandwidth costs money, lots of money
In order to feed the bandwidth webspace would consume would require charging at least the exact amount of bandwidth the person is eating up... And it can add up quick
Second, if SG were to make a profit off of it then it would have to charge MORE then the bandwidth the person is eating up
Thirdly, SG will never ASK for money from anyone in any sort of way, It is and will remain a free community for it's members
Fourthly, why would you pay a lot for webspace here when there are lots of other hosting sites out there that could possibly charge less per month
Check them out: http://www.hbhosting.com/index1.html
$10 a month for 25MB of webspace, private CGI bin, Unlimited Pop3 accounts, php4/mysql/perl
granted you also have to purchase a domain name to point to it, but it's really not that expensive either, and you'll have your own domain name...
I don't speak for everyone though, just my thoughts
Philip and Ken can answer your question better

I'd can my current space for a speedguide.net email addy in a heartbeat. Pay a premium too, just fer the name. It would be nice to host pics, swap files with other around here too.
Prolly be a major pain-in-the-arse at first setting up, but once the ball gets rolling, some serious moolah could be made.
