I'm getting 1464 / 440, I'm paying for 1500/512, is there any way I can tweak it so I can get what I'm paying for? Or am I lucky to get this good?

Read your contract, you are paying for 'best effort'.

And that close to capacity, you really don't have much to complain about. That would be considered a perfect connection.

What could I do to tweak it, for even faster speeds? But keep it legal? I have TCP Optimizer, but I don't know what settings to put it, I tried a few, but don't think its changed.

Unlike cable, there is nothing you can do legally or illegally to 'uncap' a DSL connection. The speed is what it is. Tweaking your machine's settings to maximize your connection to your ISP's NOC router is really the only increase you will be able to affect.

Take a look here:

I'm also with telus, and I'm only gettin 1300/560. I'm happy with that, cuz its pretty close to what i'm payin for. Your speed all depends on how close u are to the central station of where the ports (servers) are located. I dun think its ever possible to get 1500/512 on the dot. So be happy with what u have.

I've used shaw before, and I must admit the downloads will be faster, as much as 3 times. I've gotten up to 4MB/sec with the downloads before. But uploads is capped at 128 I belive or maybe 256, but its definitely slower than telus.

So all in all, telus offers consistent speeds and faster upload speeds and a high cap rate. And shaw offers inconsistent speeds, faster downloads during off peak hrs, slower uploads and a lower cap rate.

Hello,

im new here and i went to the site that someone mentioned to go to and post results here so here are my results please let me know if its good or bad

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 65535
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 65535
Note: Under Windows 9x, if you have RWIN set to any other value, and the Analyzer reports 65535 you might need to install the MS Vtcp386 fix.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2621.4 kbps (327.675 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1048.56 kbps (131.07 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = OFF

Time to live left = 53 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
