I'll agree with Amro. i upgraded vid cards from a gf2 mx200 to the gf3 ti200 and my power supply could'nt push it. i went thru 3 psu's in one week to find out the problem. It was in fact a poor psu. Got a new 400w and no more shut downs :D

what drivers and what vid card did you have previously ininstalled?

did you make sure to totally delete/uninstall them first?

what wattage is your current psu?

brent was on the right track. Indeed I think it was a drivers issue. I thought I totally uninstalled the int. drivers. But I guess I didn't and there was a conflict. Well this time I made sure I uninstalled the drivers and everything seems fine now....only 1 problem now.... seems like my pc is not defecting a stick of my ram....i have 2 sticks of 256...and only one of them is bein detected...i've tried reseatin over and over..........man...i think a new motherboard is due.........

gosh, my mobo is really wonky...should really get a new one...
yap, I took all the ram out and install 1 by 1 to make sure they're be detected, and I got both of'em to work finally. I'm guessin my mobo is startin to go bad.

i'm not entirely convinced yet, but it seems that way so far.. i'd still like you to try another harddrive.. and try hooking the drives one at a time (cdroms etc..) if one is damaged, it could be shorting things out, altho that would cause it to shut itself off much quicker.

I'd follow your suggestion and try it with a diff. hard drive, BUT.. at the moment the pc is running pretty stable, no glitches or shutdowns. So by disconnecting the current hd and tryin another wouldn't guaranteed me a conclusion at all. I guess I just have to wait till some glitch arise before I can start the step by step process of determining which device is shortin out..

My system with a 200 watt powersupply has handled the gf3 ti 500 since october, and no problems.

I guess unless it is a real bad quality power supply I suppose.

Hello all,

My pc used to have so many problems on start up (even though i patched the "green line on top of screen"), my friends were over here betting on if it would start up...then i got my enermax 350w and i have had no startup problems, and less jams during games, i thought the idea of upgrading a psu was the dumbest thing ever, but it is in fact the wisest...get a new one (i recommend enermax) and have fun. :)
