Mouse problem
Mouse problem
My mouse keep dying off! Even when I restart the computer, it doesn't detect the mouse. If I wait for a few hours later and start the computer, it detects again. Is there a reason why?? It's a Microsoft Intellimouse (it has the stupid wheel). I dont think it's the ball because sometimes I clean it and the computer stops detecting the mouse. Could it be a hardware component problem? I dont think buying a new mouse would help. Does the CPU need cleaning? Any help would be great.

Just taking a stab, something worth trying....
Possibly you have tried to install and reinstall it and there are too many instances of it in your device manager.
Go into the device manager and remove all instances of the mouse and reboot. Let it get detected again on reboot.
If you think it's a hardware problem, check inside the case for a bad connection to the mobo. From what you've posted so far it does seem to be a bad cable, or bad loose connection somewhere. Possibly a bad solder joint inside the mouse.
Also, in your profile it says you use Win95, and WinME.
There may be a Dos driver loading from the autoexec.bat file on boot causing problems.

The computer at home is still using Win95 and that's the computer with the problem.
Is it worth spending $30 on a new optical mouse (the cheapest optical mouse is what I'm thinking) IF (big if) it doesn't solve the problem? On the other hand, if it's does, then it's all good...
I wish I could get to my computer but I'm actually away from home and my mom called me about this. If only there's a way to "tap" into my computer from where I am...
