I had a program years ago that would allow me to plug in an IP address and it would give me detailed information about the IP Address location, ports running, O/S installed and other useful inventory information. I can't remember what it is called and can't seem to find anything that does this.
I could really use this as my multi site network has no previous documentation from the tech I took over for. I'd like to get a report of all the systems with the above information. I think the old software was LANTracker or something like that. Does anyone know of anything like this?

For network inventory, I use LANSweeper
http://www.lansweeper.com/
The free version is even incredible
Runs on IIS and .NET Frame
Deploy a little VBS script via group policy, and reap the information.
And it's ad-ware free, unlike the lesser and clunky product called spiceworks.

You might also consider to look at JDisc Discovery (http://www.jdisc.com). It identifies Windows as well as Unix and many virtualization technologies.
It is free for up to 25 devices.

There is a program to track IP addresses if you are on a wifi network this will tell you who is on you network and their IP address as well as the IP address they are visiting it also gives you the option to send them a message I haven't used it myself but heard it can be very useful.
