Internet Sharing Problem

Post by jSm1th »

Hello,

This post will be kinda long but bear with me... I really need help.

This is what i currently have. I have a Linksys WRT300N router connected to a cable modem. The internet is through MPLS so the router does not need to dial. The router is connected to a computer and to a switch. To the switch i have connected a computer running Windows Server 2003. I am planning to make a home network with my own IP address, DHCP server, DNS server, WINS server, whatever. I installed the Remote/VPN Access Service on the Server, fooled around with the router to create a connection between the tow different ip addresses... You know, advanced routing. My server having a different IP address than the router, can succesfuly connect to the router, and to the computer that is connected directly to the router but does not get any internet access.

I AM ASKING: Why come my LAN connects to my Router but does not get any access to the outside?

Please help!!!

Thank you for reading this.

Check the WAN configuration on router and ensure it's correct, then run the diagnostic tool, "ping". Try to ping yahoo.com and see whether it works. If not, then I suspect there is problem on your WAN configuration...

Also check the routing setting on router again, see any misconfiguration...

If you're going to have your own server at home....DNS, active directory, etc..follow this guide...

Why do you want the complication of a multi-homed server? Just run it single NIC...single network, same IP range.
