Just realize I had another problem.

If I turn the WinMe comp on first, the Win95 does something odd. If you click on IE, it would say it's offline and you have the option of "stay offline" or "try again." if you click try again, then the internet works. Is there a reason for this?

Ip address

This is a simple question, probably easily answered.

I have 2 computers (WinMe and Win95) connected to a Linksys befsr41 router. It works perfect but I was just wondering if I want to host a game, I would need my IP but my IP is blocked by the router.

I was told I need to set a DHCP on the comp ...

I had a similar problem with the Win95 comp.

To enable the file and printer sharing you need to go into the regedit, find and delete:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Network
NoFileSharing dword:00000001
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows ...

There is no reason to set what type of connections you have on WinMX. That feature just tells people what type of connection you've got to allow quicker downloads.

You should get the newest version. It's a lot better then ver 2.6

I dont think having 2 network card is a problem. I have 2 computers. One was installed by a ShawWave tech (yes, I had broadband for THAT long) and a newer comp that has a NIC that came with the comp. Both computer connects to the net. So, I would believe there maybe a problem with your D-Link ...

I tried it through DOS. It also had access is denied. I deleted the sys32 folder but it comes back up everytime I start the comp.

If I reinstall WinME, would I lose my files (other programs, ie quicken)? Or do I just overwrite the files?

There is a C:\_RESTORE folder in the c drive. This, I take, is suppose to help backup certain files. The problem I have is the folder is 2.5gig (yes, 2500meg) big and I am 100% certain that those 2.5gig are junk. No matter what I do I get a "Access is denied."
