What is VoIP Number Portability ?

VoIP Number Portability refers to the ability of a VoIP user to receive calls that have dialed his/hers local number on any phone in the world.

In the VoIP world, numbers are virtualized and have no real physical restrictions as phone number do in the world of traditional telephony. This is distinct from traditional local number portability which refers to a FCC regulation that requires service providers to allow customers to keep their numbers when changing carriers.
